Four of our students formed a team to participate in the Youth Rule of Law Development Summit (“青年法治建設高峰會”) 2025-26. The Summit includes workshops on Hong Kong’s constitutional order and the National Security Law, as well as a visit to the Department of Justice. The team also wrote an essay on reconciling cross‑border legal issues under the Chinese Constitution and the Basic Law. They presented their paper on 14 February 2026. Through the Summit, students have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the relationship among the Chinese Constitution, the Hong Kong Basic Law, the National Security Law, and the rule of law.

On 1 February 2026, the Department of Law and Business organized the Award Ceremony 2025. The ceremony recognized the best-performing students in law related subjects for the academic year 2024–2025.

The President’s List Ceremony for the Academic Year 2024–2025 was held on 7 November 2025 (Friday) at 4:30 pm in RLG208, Jockey Club Multimedia Production Centre, Research Complex.

The ceremony recognised outstanding academic achievement among undergraduate students across the University. Prof. Leung Hing-fung, Head of the Department of Law and Business, attended the ceremony and presented certificates to the awardees.

On September 6, 2025, the student team -- comprising Dhillon Fatehkaran Singh, Wong Nga Yin and Lin Ruoqi -- earned notable recognition by securing second runner-up in paper writing and first runner-up in paper presentation at the Corporate Governance Paper Competition and Presentation Awards 2025, organized by the Hong Kong Chatered Governance Institute (HKCGI).

In March-April 2025, a team of 8 students from the Department of Law and Business took part in the 22nd Annual Willem C.Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot. After six months of intensive preparation -- dedicated to legal research, drafting memoranda, honing advocacy skills, and strengthening teamwork. Through this experience, the students gained an in-depth understanding of the CISG (United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods) and developed invaluable advocacy skills, setting a strong foundation for their future careers in law and arbitration.

On 29 November 2024, the Department of Law and Business organized a prize award ceremony to recognize students' achievements in the academic year 2023-24.

We are honoured to have Mr. Richard Khaw, SC (Member of the Board of Governors), Mr. Stephen Hung (Adjunct Professor), and Dr. Wendy Lui (Assistant Academic Vice President) as our guests of honour to present the awards at the ceremony.

On September 7, 2024, our student team comprising Tiffany Leung, Jessica Lam, and Chester Chau achieved the commendable feat of winning both merit prizes in the Corporate Governance Paper Competition and Presentation Awards 2024 organized by the Hong Kong Chatered Governance Institute (HKCGI).

On March 9th and 10th March 2024, the 4th Hong Kong Interschool Mediation Tournament took place at Koo Plaza, HKSYU. 15 teams of secondary school students, including one from Macau, particiated in a comprehensive schedule that included training, practice and competition. Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work and commendations to the winning teams on their success. A special highlight was one high school student who excelled as a mediator and received the Outstanding Mediator Award. Special thanks to our judges and volunteers for making this event possible.

Six students from the Department of Law and Business took part in the Essay Writing and Presentation Competition organized by the International Youth Legal Exchange Federation. The Federation aims at bridging young individuals' legal mindset with the international legal arena.

In January 2024, a Year 4 student of Department of Law and Business participated in the Law Reform Essay Writing Competition 2024 by Law Reform Commission Hong Kong. The topic related to whether the law on gross negligence manslaughter adequate and appropriate to target deaths by medical malpractice.

Following the HKSYU graduation ceremony, on 24 November 2023, the Department of Law and Business invited the subject-prize and outstanding prize awardees, the Department’s mooting team and their family to the departmental prize award ceremony to recognize their achievement in 2022-23.

The New Plaque Installation ceremony took place on February 27, 2024, at the Moot Court. The event featured a solemn unveiling of the golden plaque, as Dr. Wendy Lui and Mr. So lifted a red cloth to unveal it. In attendance were Mr. So, the husband of the late Mrs. So Chan Lai Yin and their son, Mr. Simon So.

The Department of Law and Business of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University cooperated with the Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Association to organize the Youth Law Summit ("YLS") in the summer 2023. Students from various local secondary schools attended lectures, small-group tutorials, advocacy trainings, and mock trials in the 4-day day camp. The YLS has also invited practitioners of various backgrounds and law students to share with participants insights of practising and reading law.

On 4th and 5th March 2023, we have organized the 3rd Hong Kong Interschool Mediation Tournament. It is the first year this tournament is organized in physically at HKSYU campus. 12 teams have experienced a full range of experience from training, practising, and competing. Congrulations on completing the tournament and the winning teams! Our gratitude especially to our guest speaker, our judges and the helpers which makes this event possible.

A team of 6 students form the Department of Law and Business participated in the 20th Annual Willem C.Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in March 2023. The team had worked hard for over 6 months in legal research, drafting, practising advocacy and teamwork skills in order to get ready to complete with over 100 teams from different parts of the world.

The Award Ceremony was held on 2 Dec 2022 in recognizing academic achievements of students. We are thankful for the long-lasting support from Mr Richard Khaw SC in his generous donation to the Chui Wen Mei Memorial Prize to the Best Student of the graduating cohort. Our deepest gratitude also goes to Mr Stephen Hung for his donation to the prizes. The inspiring words of wisdom from Professor Huen Wong and Mr Stephen Hung given in the ceremony are very much treasured by our students and graduates.

The Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Competition was completed successfully again this year. With over 50 secondary schools participated in the Mooting and Mock Trial Competition and the Interschool Mediation Tournament, a ceremonial prize presentation event was held in June to congratulate all winners of their efforts and achivements.

It is the second year Hong Kong Shue Yan University has organized the Hong Kong secondary school Business Proposal Competition 2022 (第二屆全港中學生商業計劃書比賽2022) supported by Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council Youth Chapter as co-organiser.

On 17th September, representatives from 53 competing teams gather at Shue Yan to attend a workshop on topics relating to design thinking, economic outlook, legal consideration and pricing strategy. Dr. Samuel Law from the Department of Law and Business offers a talk on the topic “Legal considerations of developing new products”. He also gives advice to the teams.
