Guest Lecture on Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments and Arbitral Awards

The Department of Law and Business hosted a guest lecture on 22 April 2026 on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. The session was delivered by Mr. Alan Li, Senior Partner at Jincheng Tongda & Neal Law Firm, Shenzhen Office, and Ms. Celine Cen, Associate at the same firm. It provided students with valuable insights into cross-border dispute resolution and the legal frameworks governing the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, particularly within the context of China.

Guest Lecture on ESG and the Evolving Role of Legal Professionals

On 16 April 2026, the Department of Law and Business hosted a guest lecture delivered by Prof Wong Kwai Huen Albert on the growing significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations in the legal profession. During the lecture, Prof Wong traced the development of ESG and explained how it has evolved into an important pillar of modern business, corporate governance, and regulatory practice. He emphasised that ESG now plays a critical role in evaluating corporate conduct, promoting sustainability, and shaping long-term business decision-making.

Law and Business Alumni Sharing Session 2026

The Department of Law and Business organised an alumni talk on 27 March 2026, from 17:45 to 19:00, in RLB 502. The event featured three alumni speakers: Ms. Aimee Cheng, a solicitor and 2016 graduate; Mr. Christopher H. Redfield, Court Liaison Officer in the Duty Lawyer Service and a 2023 graduate; and Mr. Jonathan Lee, a 2025 graduate currently studying in the Juris Doctor programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Fourteen Outstanding Law and Business Students Recognised on the President’s List 2024–2025

The President’s List Ceremony for the Academic Year 2024–2025 was held on 7 November 2025 (Friday) at 4:30 pm in RLG208, Jockey Club Multimedia Production Centre, Research Complex.

The ceremony recognised outstanding academic achievement among undergraduate students across the University. Prof. Leung Hing-fung, Head of the Department of Law and Business, attended the ceremony and presented certificates to the awardees.

Guest Mediation Demonstration by the HKMC Construction Professional Mediation Group


On 4 November 2025, representatives from the Construction Professional Mediation Group (“CMPG”) (formerly Construction Mediation Division (“CMD”)) of the Hong Kong Mediation Council (“HKMC”) were invited to deliver a guest demonstration session for Year 3 students of the Department of Law and Business at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, in the course LAW314 Commercial Dispute Resolution. The session, kindly arranged by the Department Head, Professor H.F. Leung, provided students with a rare and valuable opportunity to learn directly from leading mediation professionals and to observe first-hand how mediation operates in practice.

Visit to the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC)

On 28 October 2025, Year 3 students from the Department of Law and Business at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, of the course LAW314 Commercial Dispute Resolution, visited the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). The outing offered a valuable opportunity to bridge classroom learning with real-world ADR practice in Hong Kong.

Information Day 2024

On 16 November 2024, our University hosted the Info Day for prospective students and guests to explore our academic programmes. Our Department also participated in it. We held a booth at the Mrs Dorothy Koo and Dr Ti Hua Koo Plaza, which attracted many guests with interactive games designed to introduce legal concepts in a fun and engaging way. Furthermore, we organised a mooting competition and demonstration in the Department’s Moot Court, offering our visitors an authentic experience of legal advocacy and courtroom procedures. Both activities were well received, providing valuable insights into the study of law and business and the diverse learning experience offered by our Department.

Information Day 2023

On 18 November 2023, our University organised the Information Day 2023. Department of Law and Business had prepared two activities to welcome visitors and prospective students. First, we had an information booth, which was set up at the Lady Lily Shaw Hall 35th Anniversary Plaza. We had prepared some simple law-related questions to interact with our guests. Second, we opened up the moot court on that day. Not only did we introduce to our prospective students the moot court as an important learning resource of our Department, but we also used the moot court to briefly introduce to our visitors the court system in Hong Kong. It was a highly enjoyable day for both our teachers and student helpers. We hope to see you all again next year.
