Deng Yunqi, Graduate, 2024

I am currently pursuing an MSc in Global Healthcare Management (Analytics) at the Global Business School for Health, University College London (UCL), after completing my undergraduate studies in Law and Business at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) in 2024.

When I first entered university, I wasn’t sure about my strengths and interests, which led to some disappointing results in my freshman year. By sophomore year, I realized the importance of academic performance for graduate school and became more focused. Through constant reflection and perseverance, my grades improved significantly, and I earned an exchange opportunity at Shenzhen University’s School of Law in my junior year.

Studying both law and business at HKSYU gave me an interdisciplinary perspective that broadened my horizons and helped me discover my true interests. Although I chose not to pursue a legal career, the rigorous legal training strengthened my logical thinking and attention to detail—skills that continue to shape my academic and professional growth. Wanting to build on my business foundation, I decided to enhance my technical skills in programming and AI. UCL’s Global Healthcare Management (Analytics) program perfectly matched these goals, blending business insights with data analytics and technological applications.

Looking back, I’ve learned three valuable lessons: set clear goals early, view setbacks as opportunities to grow, and maintain balance between study and life. I am deeply grateful to HKSYU for its guidance and support—joining the Department of Law and Business remains one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made.
