Competition
Each year, the Department of Law and Business collaborate with the Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Association (Association) to organize Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Competition (Competition). This year, we have around 33 secondary schools in Hong Kong participating in the Competition. Through the Competition, participants could be able to learn about the legal system of Hong Kong and acquire advocacy techniques. The Competition consists of preliminaries in Oct and Nov 2021, quaterfinals in Dec 2021, semi-finals in Feb 2022, and grand finals in June 2022. In each stage of Competition, we have designed certain learning objectives for participatns to learn about the essentials of Hong Kong Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
Closing cum Prize Presentation Ceremony (Ceremony) was held on campus at Hong Kong Shue Yan University on 23 July 2022. At the Ceremony, we announced the winners of the Competition. Congratulations to Renaissance College Hong Kong for the English Division and St Paul's Co-educational College for the Chinese Division. We also want to congratulate all the other awardees of the Competition. During the Ceremony, we also presented prizes to awardees of the Hong Kong Interschool Meditation Tournament 2022 and Easter Mock Trial Challenge 2022. Congratulations again to all awardees.
Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to the Association for the excellent organization of this Competition and the Ceremony. We would also want to thank student helpers from our Department and the tutors, who were responsible for coaching secondary school teams, from the Faculty of Law of CUHK, the Faculty of Law of HKU, and the School of Law of HK CityU respectively. Every one of them made valuable contributions to the Competition and the Ceremony.
