Quarter Final of the 2021/2022 Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Competition

Co-organised by the Department of Law and Business and the Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Association, the Quarter Final of the 2021/2022 Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Competition took place at our Moot Court on 4 Dec 2021.

16 teams from 14 secondary schools gave their best endeavour to earn their ticket to the next stage. Throughout the day, the participants have demonstrated their enthusiasm and teamwork attempting to address the moot judges’ questions on one hand and responding to the opponents’ argument on the other.

Many participants are first timers yet their dedication to bring the best out of themselves and to strive for championship cannot be underestimated. “This is the first time we take part in such a high-standard competition,” says a representative of Heep Yunn School, “ and we have never dealt with an appeal before; this is a brand-new experience for us and the judges’ questions helped us realized what we should have done better in our preparation.” This observation was echoed by the representative of Queen’s College, who indicated that the competition has brought their legal knowledge to the next level. Besides, they have learnt to work under time pressure and to deal with the unexpected.
