Students Gain Practical Insights into Risk and Compliance During Manulife Company Visit
On 1 December 2025, students enrolled in the course LAW 322 Risk and Compliance visited Manulife Tower in Kwun Tong for a company visit held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The event provided an important opportunity for students to connect their academic study of risk and compliance with real-world practices in the insurance industry. The programme included guided discussions and networking rotations that introduced students to how a major insurance company manages regulatory obligations, operational risks, and corporate governance structures.
During the visit, Manulife’s campus recruitment and compliance representatives shared detailed insights into the role of risk and compliance within the insurance sector, including how risk frameworks are implemented, how compliance teams interact with different business units, and the practical challenges faced in maintaining regulatory standards. Students also received advice on CV preparation, interview preparation, and job-hunting strategies. The small-group networking format enabled students to ask in-depth questions and learn directly from industry practitioners about the skills and mindset valued in compliance-related career paths.
Feedback from colleagues and students indicated that the visit was informative and engaging. Many expressed that the experience broadened their understanding of how risk and compliance functions operate within an international insurance company and strengthened their confidence in exploring related career opportunities. As this was our first visit of this kind, its success encourages the Department to continue organising similar activities to enhance students’ professional exposure and industry readiness. We extend our sincere appreciation to Manulife for the warm reception and valuable support offered to our students and staff.
